DK_SYB_Banner_600x600_0216Do you suffer from the following symptoms of brain fog?

  • Perpetual mental fog
  • Trouble concentrating or remembering things
  • Life always seem difficult and tiring
  • Depression
  • Fatigue
  • Lack of motivation

If so, you may have brain inflammation.

Why does this matter?

Because brain fog can lead to early brain degeneration that may be irreversible if caught too late.

Although brain fog is not addressed by conventional medicine, it responds well to functional medicine protocols.

Dr. Kharrazian will teach you which steps to take and in which order to address your brain symptoms in the Save Your Brain: The Six-Week Rescue Plan online course.

Brain fog signals brain inflammation — functional medicine can help

When you sprain an ankle, you know something is wrong because of the pain, redness and swelling. But an inflamed brain doesn’t hurt.

Instead, it causes fatigue, foggy thinking, forgetfulness, lack of motivation, and depression. People don’t realize these are symptoms of poor brain health.

This is because the brain’s immune system does not have this “off-switch,” and inflammation can crawl through the brain like an unchecked fire, destroying tissue along the way.

This accelerates brain aging and raises the risk of Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, and other brain degenerative diseases. Brain inflammation can even lead to psychiatric mood disorders.

These are mechanisms explained in more detail in the Save Your Brain: The Six-Week Rescue Plan.

Causes of brain inflammation that functional medicine can help

  • Chronic inflammation
  • Blood sugar imbalances (hypoglycemia, insulin resistance, or diabetes)
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Gut infections
  • Heavy metals and other environmental toxins
  • Stress and lack of sleep
  • Head injuries or stroke

Food intolerances are a major cause of brain fog

One of the more common causes of brain fog is a food intolerance, particularly to gluten. Many people have banished brain fog simply by going gluten-free. In fact, research shows gluten is linked to a variety of neurological and psychological disorders.

Functional medicine solutions

Thankfully, the brain responds well to functional medicine dietary and lifestyle strategies. Functional medicine can not only eliminate symptoms, but also improve brain function for years to come.

Nobody but you cares about your brain — don’t wait until it’s too late!

Nobody else will care about your brain health — that’s up to you. Don’t wait until it’s too late!

To learn how to address your brain fog with functional medicine, join the Save Your Brain: The Six-Week Rescue Plan community. You’ll learn tools you’ll use lifelong and that could very well save you from a neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer’s or dementia.

      Marie; Thanks for your inquiry. Sorry, but Dr. Kharrazian is not looking for content writers at this time.

    I really need to see this doctor or to speak with him. Every doctor I have seen claims they cannot help me anymore. My gut is so bad that I have all of these symptoms and my children and husband have basically lost their mom to being unable to function. I am only 46 and cannot eat In fear of such pain and sickness. Please let me know how I can fix myself or with him. Everything is so hard for me, and I am afraid it is too late with Alzheimer’s. May someone please get ahold of me?

      Hello Tanya;

      Sorry to hear you are suffering so. Dr. Kharrazian is not taking new patients or adding any names to a wait list, due to an overfull wait list, teaching schedule, and new research schedule at Harvard.

      In the link below are practitioners who are highly trained in Dr. Kharrazian’s protocols, and also teach for him. Some of them may be willing to practice remotely; you would need to contact them individually to find out.

      (http://thyroidbook.com/practitioner-locator/).

      Good luck, and don’t give up!

    I have poor blood circulation. I’ve read Dr. Kharrazian’s book and I’m interested in ordering the nutritional strategies for brain circulation and oxygen. Should I order these botanical compounds separately, or does he have a tincture or combination that he sells?

    • Susan (admin) September 25, 2017 at 9:29 pm

      Erin;

      Hopefully you already saw my answer to your similar email. Here’s what I wrote:

      Thank you for your inquiry. Sorry, but Dr. Kharrazian doesn’t sell any supplements. With many of his patients, he uses products that he formulates for Apex Energetics (they are the “K-series” items) (https://www.apexenergetics.com/). Apex is a practitioner line, so your doctor would need to have an account with them. However, the botanicals can all be found over the counter as well. Dosing would have to be determined between you and your practitioner, as we are not allowed to make medical recommendations without you being one of Dr. K’s patients.

      Good luck, and remember that exercise along with the botanicals is key for oxygenation and circulation. Many people ignore this and don’t benefit as much as they could.

    Is this course from the point of view of the thyroid only, or does it consider female sex hormones as well, since 90% of thyroid patients are female?

    • Susan (admin) October 3, 2017 at 8:31 pm

      Mary;

      Thank you for your interest in the course. The course is based on Dr. Kharrazian’s brain book, and guides you through the introductory protocols that he uses with all his patients. At the bottom of this page are options for finding the book: (https://brainhealthbook.com/). It’s not thyroid specific; it addresses the inflammatory processes common to patients with many chronic illness issues, including Hashimoto’s. The course does not go into any detail on hormones.

      Please let us know if you have any more questions. You can also email questions via the Contact page.

    Hello, I have a question regarding the 6 week Brain Brain Fog Course. I understand this course is set over 6 weeks, but I wanted to know whether once you have paid for this course and signed up, do you receive all the material for the 6 weeks immediately or do you receive some new material every week for 6 weeks? The reason I ask is that I am keen to purchase this course but I’d prefer to try and get through the material quicker than 6 weeks at my own pace if possible. I am currently finishing my Phd thesis but have been suffering from brain fog for awhile and it is greatly affecting me. I have known about this course for a while but only discovered you have payment plan options so I am able to afford it as a student. However, the issue is my PhD submission deadline is now fast approaching so I would like to try to get through the Brain Fog Course as fast as possible at my own pace as I don’t have 6 weeks available at the moment in regards to my thesis deadline. So I am unsure whether I should purchase the course and this would now depend on whether all of the course material is given to you at once and I would be able to go through it quickly at my own pace, or whether I would have to wait week by week for 6 weeks to receive each week’s new course material.

      Hello Janet;

      We saw your email and responded, but I’ll paste in the text from it here in case you didn’t see it.

      The course is released one week of chapters at a time. The protocols are the same that Dr. Kharrazian uses for his patients. He set up the course as a weekly release specifically so that people don’t rush; each step builds upon the previous, and certain steps need time to set in and set the stage for the next step. Attempting to rush through it won’t benefit you.

      Another reason the course is set up this way is that people tend to not only try to rush, but they cherry-pick information and protocols and end up skipping important steps that they may not understand matter very much for their brains.

      The course is based on his brain book, [Why Isn’t My Brain Working?](https://brainhealthbook.com/). While the book contains more information by volume, the course introduces assessments and protocols not in the book. If you decide to forgo the course and get the book, it does contain the bulk of the information, but it’s a large book and does take effort and time to get through.

    Hello,

    I read Dr Kharrazian’s thyroid book and I’m following his news. No wonder that his agenda is fully booked. The problem is that – as you can easily follow a diet protocol – is not easy to add nutritional compounds and just know which kind of blood test do you need.

    As I live in ITALY, you can advise me with a practitioner that followed Dr Kharrazian courses and use his supplement?

    I also would like that his books could be translated to reach as more people as possible.

    Is really difficult if not impossible to find a person with all this knowledge and integrity.

    Thank you for answering me, also by private message if you want.

  • Susan (admin) July 2, 2018 at 7:35 pm

    Hello Maria;

    Thank you for your interest in Dr. Kharrazian’s work. At this time, he doesn’t have a referral list for outside the US. We hope that will change in the future, but for now, I’d suggest looking on the referral list hosted by IAFNR (International Association of Functional Neurology and Rehabilitation) at https://iafnr.org/member-referral-directory/

    On that page, to search by country, enter the country name in the ‘keyword search’ field on the far right. If any come up, it’s worth contacting them to ask if they are trained in the protocols he teaches in Functional Neurology and Functional Medicine.

    We are working on getting the books translated into more languages. German is published; we had a Spanish translation done but it turned out to be very poor, so we are once again seeking translators for Spanish. For other languages, Dr. Kharrazian is accepting proposals from publishers for consideration.

    Good luck, and if you do find a practitioner in Italy whom you like, please let us know via email at info@drknews.com.

  • Ameeta October 23, 2018 at 4:31 am

    Hello,
    I would be jnferested in doing the functional medicine course. How do I sign up? And do you give certification on the completion of this course?

  • Susan (admin) October 24, 2018 at 4:41 pm

    Ameeta;

    To sign up, just click the image at the top of this page where you see “Attend”. Or click any of the blue links in the article that say, “Save Your Brain: The Six-Week Rescue Plan”. On the next page, enter your email, and you will then be routed to a page with a video and information on the course. You can sign up there.

    The course does not include any kind of certification.

    We hope you will join us!

    Hi,
    In 2017 I suffered a severe stroke with left me with anoxic brain injury and hemorrhage. I was without blood flow and oxygen for 40 minutes. I was in a coma for 7 days. Since then I have been having all the symptoms that were mentioned above. The trouble focusing and mental fatigue are the worst. What therapy’s or Rehabilition technique would you recommend. I’ve 80 hyperbaric treatment. I plan to take your 6 week course but I have to budget for it. Any advice you can offer will be nice.

    • Susan (admin) April 8, 2019 at 5:43 pm

      Hello Angel;

      I’m sorry, but Dr. Kharrazian can’t give treatment advice on the blog. I hope your team of healthcare practitioners have been able to help you start to recover. I know stroke recovery can be slow, and hard work. I would recommend trying to see a functional neurologist, as they are trained in treating the long-term, slow-burn after-effects of brain injury (which stroke is a form of). All the best to you.
